But a broken mirror just shows a broken reflection, doesn't it? Nothing more than that.

A lovely haiku.
I especially liked the second line, 'disappointed eyes seek more' - so true.

Why do we keep going back to mirrors, hoping that we will see something other than what we put into them?

Day 2: Mirror

True that the mirror never lies, but in a way it always lies. It shows a two-dimensional picture of a three-dimensional truth. It can't show the full picture because of its very nature, and if it's broken or distorted, like a carnival funhouse mirror, the picture it shows will be broken or distorted too.

An interesting cautionary poem; it reminds us that staring in the mirror too long is sure to disappoint (if it doesn't puff up with vanity, that is).
